Integrated control device for automatic transmission and engine

Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce engine torque with underlap control, upon shifting a gear from clutch disengagement to engagement, or shift a gear with overlap control, when engine torque cannot be reduced, respectively for minimizing engine overspeed. CONSTITUTION:When it is judged that a gear shift from the second gear to the third gear takes place via clutch disengagement to engagement in steps 220 and 230, judgement is further made as to whether engine torque can be reduced in step 240. If torque reduction is found possible, the engine torque is reduced accordingly, and a gear is shifted with underlap control in steps 270 and 280. On the other hand, when it is impossible to reduce the engine torque, a gear is shifted with overlap control in steps 250 and 260.
